Curcumin May Ease Post-Workout Soreness

Curcumin, the anti-inflammatory substance that gives turmeric its orange color, has been shown to help people feel more comfortable after exercising.

A multi-institutional study team asked 19 men between the ages of 18 and 39 to take either curcumin supplements or a placebo for 28 days. According to results reported in the Journal of Dietary Supplements, participants who took the curcumin reported less muscle soreness. They also had reduced levels of creatine kinase, a marker of muscle damage.
