Eat on a Regular Basis

  • Staying healthy means dining at regularly scheduled intervals instead of catching meals when you can.

It’s easy to skip eating when the day gets hectic. But staying healthy means dining at regularly scheduled intervals instead of catching meals when you can. “Make eating a predictable part of your daily flow,” says Marc David, founder of the Institute for the Psychology of Eating in Boulder, Colorado, and author of The Slow Down Diet: Eating for Pleasure, Energy, and Weight Loss (Healing Arts). “Make your mealtimes important.” David advises finding ways to carve out the necessary time, whether it’s waking up earlier to have breakfast or adjusting your workday to eat lunch regularly. If you travel a lot or otherwise have an irregular schedule, he suggests committing to “thoughtful advance planning. Take food with you when necessary.”
