Showing Life’s Possibilities

  • Natures Plus is dedicated to helping our community and supporting those wit disabilities.

Sometimes what people who are facing significant challenges in their lives need is exposure to what is possible.

It was in that spirit that Nature’s Plus opened its Long Island manufacturing facilities to a tour group from Program Without Walls, a community-based program for adults with developmental disabilities. The tour provided the visitors with a look into the day-to-day activities that go into making vitamins and other nutritional products, including teamwork, organization and following innovative manufacturing processes. The goal of the tour was to help Program Without Walls participants realize what they are capable of and what they can achieve. Program Without Walls is a part of Family Residences and Essential Enterprises, Inc. Founded in 1977 and headquartered in Old Beth page, New York, FREE (familyres. org, @FREEFamilyRes) supports more than 4,000 individuals with intellectual/developmental disabilities, mental illness and traumatic brain injury, mostly on Long Island. The group’s mission is to “assist individuals of all abilities realize their full potential” through employment pathways, behavioral health services and housing opportunities. Program Without Walls thanked Nature’s Plus for leading the tour and speaking with its members in a letter addressed to company president Jim Gibbons, who hosted the event. “You and your staff provided our individuals with a valuable lesson about manufacturing your high-quality vitamin supplements,” the group wrote. “There are not many manufacturers that would extend themselves to allow us to peek into the world of commerce. “We feel privileged that you were so involved with our group during the wonderful tour of your facility,” the group concluded. “We were happy to have Program Without Walls tour our facilities,” says Gibbons. “It allows Nature’s Plus to give back to our local community
